Growing up in life, Serena Jeffery wanted to be involved with children.
Jeffery’s dream is coming true with her being the first administrator of Little Lyons Daycare.
On KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 Segment Thursday, Jeffery says when she came to Emporia State University, she knew she had an opportunity to pursue a career she had dreamt of growing up.
Before being named the administrator at Little Lyons Daycare, Jeffery has worked for multiple non-profit organizations in the Emporia area including Girl Scouts, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and St. Francis Community Services.
Now Jeffery has the task of building and operating an eventual 24-hour daycare facility.
Jeffery says a tentative goal is to be open by July 1 with three classrooms licensed through CareArc. Once opened, construction will begin on one portion of the building. Once that portion is completed, they’ll flip-flop and work on the other portion of the building with the eventual goal of having 11 classrooms and being fully operated 24 hours a day.
Jeffery says there are no hours set in stone currently, but Little Lyons is looking at operating from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. until it can be fully operated for 24 hours each day.
