Additional details are expected from Emporia Police sometime Monday, however, one injury and one arrest have been confirmed following a shooting and standoff in Emporia Saturday
So far, Emporia Police Sergeant Dominick Vortherms has told KVOE News officers received a shots-fired call Saturday night and found one person with a gunshot wound to a foot. That person was taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected minor injuries.
Vortherms says a suspect was taken into custody as well.
Names have not been released.
A heavy law enforcement presence involving Emporia Police, Lyon County deputies, the Joint Emporia-Lyon County Special Response Team, the Kansas Highway Patrol and a KHP K-9 unit stayed outside 701 State for well over an hour before beginning a lengthy investigation inside the house.
