Applications are now open for the first Emporia Civic Leadership Institute.
Applications will be accepted through May 10th with the first module of the institute scheduled for Tuesday, May 28. Emporia Director of Special Projects Tayler Wash developed the institute to help give Emporia residents a better understanding and appreciation for the various departments within the city.
The 10-week program will occur every Tuesday from 5:30 pm to 8 pm through July 30th. A graduation ceremony will be held on August 6.
Wash tells KVOE News there is enough room for 10 to 15 participants and the program is free to attend. Individuals interested must be 18 years or older and applications are available at Emporiaks.org/CLI.
Wash hopes this program will be just the start of an annual or bi-annual program, however, no exact plans to that end have been confirmed.
