Hank Osterhout has done quite a bit in his short time as interim director of the Emporia Granada Theatre.
Osterhout joined KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 Segment to give an update on what’s happening at the Granada.
Osterhout says he’s trying to utilize the theatre to its full potential.
One weekly event Osterhout has been hosting at the Granada that’s grown quickly is Silver Screen Sundays, which shows a different movie each week for $2. Osterhout says the Granada would like to do more events like a dance night, and a college night and even bring more diverse events to Emporia.
Upcoming events at the Granada include Crosswinds Presents: Stand Up To Stigma on Friday, Making Movies on May 11, The Steel Wheels with Weda Skirts, and Sweet Lil and the Nothings on May 28. Everclear will also be coming to the Granada on September 24 and tickets are limited according to Osterhout.
Osterhout says he would like to get the calendar filled, but he emphasizes quality over quantity.
