A change is coming to 509 Commercial in downtown Emporia.
The Vault Meats and Cheeses charcuterie business is closing at the end of May after six years of operations. Owner Becky Mishler simply says “all good things must come to an end” and thanked the community for its support in a social media post.
Meanwhile, Chad “The Breadman” Decrow — Mishler’s location partner the past several years — will take over the full retail space with Breadman’s Bakery and Bistro. Decrow tells KVOE News he wants to have a full-service bakery, along with some meat and cheese options. Eventually, he wants to add a wood-fired hearth oven while attending as many community and charity events as possible. He also plans to add to partnerships already in place with local and regional restaurants like Gravel City Roasters, Radius Brewing and Union Street Social, and he’s looking to add new wholesale accounts as he ramps up his operations.
