A Quincy man and Greenwood County Road and Bridge employee lost all his possessions in a recent house fire.
Robert Cohen had been checking roads and bridges after heavy and severe storm activity Monday night. He came home to find his house engulfed in flames. The Eureka Herald says the house was destroyed.
Greenwood County Fire Chief Glen Collinge tells KVOE News there were “advanced fire conditions” when firefighters arrived from Eureka, Neal and Virgil alongside Greenwood County deputies. The fire also damaged an ATV and several lawn mowers before it was put out. The cause will be undetermined and there is no word on where it started.
In the meantime, area residents are asked to help Cohen. Residents can mail checks to Cohen at the Eureka Herald, Box 590 in Eureka ZIP 67045 or to bring financial donations to the Herald office at 822 East River, Suite 100 in Eureka. Clothing, specifically size 10 shoes, size 3x shirts and size 38×30 jeans, are also needed.
