Flint Hills League Track and Field Championships were on the line Friday in Cottonwood Falls.
The Osage City boys won the meet with 116 points, 18 points more than runner-up Chase County. Osage City had one league champion with Lucas Gantenbien who won the 300m hurdles with a time of 45.75. Dylan Theel finished second in the 100m (11.40). Tate Smith finished second in the high jump (5-10). Kasen Parsons finished second in the javelin (172-1). The 4x100m relay team finished second (44.97). The 4x800m relay team finished second (8:51.91). Gantenbien finished third in the 110m hurdles (18.03). Noah Martinez finished third in the shot put (46-4).
The Osage City girls finished second with 98 points, 46 points behind team champion West Franklin. Emory Speece won two league championships, the 1,600m (5:41.18) and the 800m (2:35.03). Lexi Boss won the javelin (118-0) and took second in the discus (139-0). Jaiton Bosse finished second in the 1,600m (5:59.32) and took third in the 3,200m (13:00). DJ Long finished second in the pole vault (7-6). The 4x400m relay team finished second (4:23.52). Campbell Stark finished second in the 300m hurdles (50.47).
The Chase County boys finished second with 98 points. Tag Groh won the 200m in 22.54, beating Lyndon’s Tanner Heckel by .02, while also winning the 400m in 49.02. The Bulldogs also got wins by their 4x100m (43.84) and 4x400m (3:30.64) relays. Wyatt Griffin won the high jump with a clearance of 6-0 and also took third in the 200m (23.79). Colin Monihen finished second in the high jump (5-10). Luke Budke finished second in the pole vault (12-6). The 4x800m relay team finished third (8:52.92).
The Lyndon boys finished third with 86 points. Heckel won three events, the 100m (10.88), the javelin (176-10), and the long jump (23-3) and took second in the 200m (22.56). Kaedin Massey won the discus (157-8) and the shot put (49-6). Josh Vignery won the 110m hurdles in 16.30.
The Council Grove girls finished third with 73 points. Macy Bolen won the 100m (13.10), was second in the high jump (4-10) and took third in the 200m (28.12). Breckyn McEuen won the long jump with a mark of 15-3. Emily Bacon finished second in the triple jump (32-6.50). The 4x100m relay team finished second (53.03). Whitlyn Mullen finished third in the 1,600m (6:08.07). Kiele Tyner finished third in the 100m (13.28).
The Council Grove boys finished fourth with 82 points. Lakoddah Downes won the pole vault clearing 12-6. Evan Carr won the triple jump with a mark of 42-2.50 and was second in the long jump (20-6.25). Caleb Schroeder earned a pair of second-place finishes in the hurdles finishing the 110m in 17.21 and the 300m in 45.85. The 4x400m relay team finished second (3:37.20). Blaise French finished third in the 100m (11.52). Jadyn Picolet was third in the 3,200m (10:14.95). The 4x100m relay team finished third (45.51).
The Northern Heights girls finished fourth with 65 points. Ellei McCrory won the 3,200m in 11:00.23. The 4x800m relay team won the event in 10:56.03. Josie Tiffany finished second in the 3,200m (12:54.70) and third in the 400m (1:06.68). Addisyn Hinrichs finished second in the 100m hurdles (17.48) and finished third in the 300m hurdles (52.69). Reese Houck finished third in the high jump (4-8).
The Chase County girls finished fifth with 55 points. Kinzie Rogers won the pole vault (8-0). Madelyn Wilson finished second in the shot put (37-1.25), and took third in the discus (113-3) and the javelin (112-1). Kiya Cahoone finished third in the long jump (14-10.25). Lynae Rains was third in the shot put (33-0.75).
The Lyndon girls finished sixth with 49 points. Trysten Sowers won the 400m in 1:01.88 and took second in the 200m (27.55). Lexi Totty finished second in the 400m (1:06.23). The 4x100m (53.13) and 4x400m (4:27.86) relays each finished third.
The Northern Heights boys finished eighth with 15 points. Cooper Hamlin had a pair of third-place finishes, in the 300m hurdles (46.42) and the 1,600m (4:53.40).
Regionals are up next for all teams. Northern Heights will travel to Iola for its 1A regional hosted by Waverly on Friday. Chase County and Lyndon will travel to Erie for its 2A regional on Friday. Council Grove and Osage City will travel to its 3A regional at Halstead on Thursday.
