Two area schools have been named as 2023 Challenge Awards recipients, as announced by the Kansas State Department of Education.
Ninety-seven schools are on the listing, including the following from nearby counties:
*USD 389 Eureka: Marshall Elementary School
*USD 417 Morris County: Prairie Heights Elementary School
The awards are courtesy the Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force. They recognize schools making notable positive differences in student achievements in light of “significant challenges in their school population,” including graduation rates, chronic absenteeism rates and socio-economic status for those taking Kansas math or reading assessments.
The Challenge Awards were established in 2002.
