Monday’s rain led to an injury crash in Emporia and a reported injury wreck in Osage County. The Emporia crash happened just after 4:30 pm in the 500 block of Prairie. Lyon County Deputy Fernando Zuniga says 41-year-old Jarrod Holuska of Emporia was driving a tilt truck that hydroplaned, went across traffic and crashed head-on into a northbound pickup driven by 59-year-old Richard Becker of Neosho Rapids.
Becker was taken to Newman Regional Health with unspecified injuries. Holuska and two passengers, 21-year-old Blake Looney and 35-year-old Jordan Eubank, hometowns unlisted, were not hurt.
The Osage County wreck happened shortly before 6:20 pm. Patience Hallman, age 26 of Emporia, was southbound near mile marker 161, over 30 miles northeast of Emporia, when her SUV hydroplaned and went into a ditch. She mentioned possible injuries but was not transported by ambulance for treatment.
Tuesday should be sunny and dry with highs in the mid-70s. Rain returns by late Wednesday morning, and there is a marginal severe weather risk for wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail to the size of quarters. KVOE and KVOE.com will have updates.
