Downtown Emporia will be lined up with cars on Saturday.
The 30th annual Emporia Flatland Cruisers Car Show is set for Saturday in the 800 block of Commercial from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pre-registration is $15 for the first vehicle and $10 for each additional vehicle. Registration on the day of the show is $20.
Event spokesperson Kent Happel says one of his favorite things about the show is seeing various cars and talking to their owners about them.
The show is open to all cars, trucks, and motorcycles. The first 150 entries receive a dash plaque.
Along with the car show, there will be door prizes, a silent auction, food vendors, music, and hourly $25 cash drawings. At 1 p.m., kids of all ages can participate in the Hot Wheel Races. The 1st 100 kids signed up will receive a good bag.
Happel says cars have been a big portion of his life since he started working with his father on his Hudson. That eventually turned into Happel’s daughter cleaning wrenches while working on cars.
Funds from the car show go towards Flint Hills Technical College Automobile Technology Scholarships and local charities. For more information, visit the Emporia Flatland Crusiers Facebook page.
