Thirty-five organizations will participate in the Emporia Community Foundation’s 11th annual Match Day.
The non-profit organizations were revealed in a special on-air presentation on KVOE on Tuesday. Chief Executive Officer Linda Kehres-Schmidt says It’s an exciting time for the groups and the Community Foundation.
There were several new organizations announced, including Chase County Old School Development District, Choose How You Respond in memory of the late Emporia chiropractor Dr. Bryan Douglas, Emporia Spanish Speakers, Energize Lebo, Good Way Gardens, Matfield Green Works and Southwick House.
There is also a lengthy list of matching fund donors this year, including the Clint Bowyer 79 Fund, Community Foundation’s Fund for the Future, Gilpin Family Trust, WS and EC Jones Testamentary Trust, Curtis W McCreary Legacy Fund, Patterson Family Found, Preston Family Trust, Merry and Charles Rayl, the Trusler Foundation and the Jane and Bernard Reeble Endowed Fund.
Charitable organizations need to meet several criteria to be eligible for Match Day:
*Organizations need an operating budget of up to $175,000
*Organizations must have a Community Foundation fund
*Organizations must have their headquarters in and serve at least one county in the Community Foundation coverage area
Applicants are then researched for information about their mission, budget, projects or programs and number of people served.
Match Day has become increasingly popular because of its increased fundraising every year of its existence, including almost $668,000 for 35 groups last year. Since it began, Match Day has generated $3.1 million for almost 60 non-profits in and around Emporia.
Match Day will officially take place Nov. 18. More information is available at emporiacf.org.
