Hosting its first regional game in nine years, the Emporia High girls soccer team had a tall task in the 7-10 matchup of the Class 5A west No. 2 regional hosting Kapaun Mt. Carmel on Tuesday night.
The Crusaders scored in the seventh minute and never looked back in a 4-0 victory over the Lady Spartans. Kapaun added two goals in 38 seconds in the ninth minute and added its fourth and final goal in the 35th minute. Emporia High coach Oscar Macias said the Lady Spartans had their chances in the first half.
Emporia High finishes its season with a 9-7-1 record. The Lady Spartans graduate four seniors, Addy Marshall, Eryn Templeton, Emeil Bennett, and Tanisha Trujillo, but will return a strong core for the 2025 season.
