A teenaged driver escaped serious injury after an unusual injury crash reported Thursday afternoon.
The wreck involved a small car just east of Ninth and Lawrence around 4:20 pm. KVOE News observed a small passenger car traveling westbound before losing power and angling across traffic before stopping on the south sidewalk. Emporia Police confirmed the car died and the driver successfully began pushing the car — and unsuccessfully tried to get in as the car began moving away from her.
The car rolled over the teenager’s ankle but she declined treatment and was released from the scene shortly after Emporia Fire/EMS arrived.
