Fears of a fire at an Emporia school building were, thankfully, unfounded Sunday.
Reports of a possible structure fire developed shortly after 6:30 pm at Timmerman Elementary. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says crews found haze but no smoke when they arrived, and there was no actual fire. Instead, the early indications are the school’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system dumped some coolant and caused the haze.
Besides Emporia, Americus fire crews and Emporia Police responded.
