Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters Serving Lyon County has a new area director.
Michelle Sink, currently the area director for north central Kansas, is now leading the Emporia office at least on a temporary basis. The north central office also oversees operations for Abilene, Junction City, Manhattan, Wamego and Waterville.
Sink countered recent rumors the Emporia office will be discontinued following the departure of prior director Jacque Wellnitz earlier this year. She also says all dollars raised locally stay in the community to help the local program. Besides fundraising and ongoing work to support and recruit matches, Sink says some of her goals include partnering with USD 253 Emporia and Emporia State University to restart school-based programming.
