The City of Emporia is alerting residents to a potential scammer who has been going door-to-door in recent days.
According to a release on the city’s official Facebook page, there have been reports of an individual who has been stopping at residences to discuss utility rate increases. The city says this individual does not represent the City of Emporia and city employees will never go door-to-door to discuss rate increases.
All rate increases or utility matters information can be found online at Emporiaks.gov. A description of the individual is not readily available.
The city asks that if you do encounter an individual claiming to be a representative of the city, do not give out any information and contact the city immediately.
