Emporia Spartan Boxing brought home four wins and top team honors following competition in Manhattan Saturday.
21-year-old undefeated heavyweight Darin Neal maintained his unbeaten streak with a first-round stoppage in his bout. He now improves to 4-0 in his amateur career. 14-year-old Xavier Cheney would earn the team’s second stoppage victory of the night in the second round of his bout.
20-year-old three-time Golden Gloves national qualifier Junior Robles picked up a win via decision as did 13-year-old Gio Cervantes. Cervantes is now 2-1 as an amateur and has won his last two matches in a row.
Also competing Saturday were 11-year-old Arlis Sieberns in his third career bout and 14-year-old Easton Mellies in his debut bout.
Both fought hard but came up just short with decision losses. Spartan Boxing would wrap up the evening by tying Southwest Boxing Club for the outstanding team honors.
