Emporia’s Gentry Scheve missed the cut at the 2024 U.S. Open qualifier at Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio on Monday. Zac Blair finished at -9 to win the event and qualify along with Beau Hossler and Carson Schaake who both finished at -8. Cameron Davis edged out 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott for the final spot at -7. Scott is the first alternate from the site and will lose his consecutive major starts streak dating back to the 2001 British Open unless he is called on to fill in. Scott missed the cut at the PGA Championship this year and tied for 22nd at the Masters. His best U.S. Open finish is a tie for 7th in 2019. Scheve shot a 71 in his first round but finished with a 76 in his second round to shoot +7. Major champion Zach Johnson also did not qualify.
