Following consistent rainfall through much of the morning and early afternoon hours Monday, another round of storms is expected Tuesday, some of which could be strong to severe.
Currently, the National Weather Service has the northern half of Lyon County and all of Osage and Wabaunsee counties in a slight risk area for severe storm activity. The rest of the listening area is under a marginal risk.
Storms are expected to develop along a southeast-moving cold front and push into the KVOE listening area by the late afternoon to evening hours. The main hazards with any storms that develop will be damaging winds and large hail.
Storm chances Tuesday follow scattered thunderstorms and rain showers Monday morning that brought no reports of severe activity, however, it did result in varied rain totals across the area. At the KVOE studios, we received 0.75 inches of rainfall.
Other totals:
*1100 Block of Constitution: 0.35 inches
*10th and Weaver: 0.25 inches
*East of Madison: 2.1 inches
*South Madison: 1.58 inches
*Lamont: 1.3 inches
*Greenwood/Lyon County line: 0.35
Once Tuesday’s storm chances wrap up, the rest of the week looks to be mostly dry with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s before rain chances, albeit slight chances, re-enter the forecast Friday through the morning hours Sunday.
