Nearly 900 pro and amateur disc golfers from across the world will set their eyes on becoming a world champion next week.
The PDGA Masters World Championships begin Tuesday across the Emporia area. Players will compete at Peter Pan Park, Jones Park, Champions Landing as well as compete in Olpe, Cottonwood Falls and Council Grove.
Dynamic Disc founder and Champions Landing owner Jeremy Rusco says this event brings back together many disc golfers who have previously played on the pro tour.
Festivities get underway on Saturday with the doubles event at Peter Pan and Jones Parks. Field events will take place on Sunday. Check in and opening ceremonies will take place Monday at the Emporia Granada Theatre. The first round of competition begins Tuesday. Spectators are welcomed to watch at each course at no cost.
This will be the first time the Masters World Championships will be held in Emporia. Rusco says like other disc golf tournament that have been held in Emporia, it’ll bring an economic impact to the community.
Final rounds will be conducted on June 15 with the top four in each division battling for the world championship.
