Emporia City Commissioners are convening for their regular action and study meetings a bit later than usual this week.
Commissioners will meet at 11 am Friday with the main item of business during the action session being infrastructure matters. Commissioners will consider awarding the 2024 asphalt preservation project contract to Harbour Construction, LLC for better than $230,800.
A construction contract for a medium-intensity taxiway lights replacement project, change orders for the street rehab and Peyton Street projects and the rejection of stormwater pond improvement bids will also see consideration. Commissioners may also authorize tax abatement status for the Gazette building development in downtown Emporia following a public hearing.
Commissioners will also issue a proclamation recognizing June as Pride Month in the city of Emporia.
During their study meeting, commissioners will receive their first round of outside agency appropriations requests for the 2025 budgeting cycle. A homelessness advisory board discussion and the selection of an architect and engineer for small projects will also take place.
The meetings will begin in the Municipal Courtroom before moving to City Conference Room 1AB.
