Five different gardens were showcased during the Emporia Garden Tour on Saturday.
Patti Mitchell’s garden was on display at 637 Lawrence Street. Mitchell’s garden was split into a garden for kids and another portion for vegetables.
Mitchell says she likes to change things up each year.
Roy and Brandy Briggeman’s garden was on display at 1016 Rural Street. Roy Briggeman says his garden features a little bit of everything.
Other stops on the tour included 2910 Crestview Drive and 602 South Commercial Street. The tour culminated at the demonstration garden at the Lyon County Fairgrounds.
Lyon County Extension Horticulturist Travis Carmichael says this year’s tour exceeded their expectations.
Carmichael says the tour has gone from minimalistic gardening to higher, more intense gardening practices for all of their gardens.
Attendees who had their tickets signed by all of the Master Gardners on the tour were eligible to win a gift basket courtesy of the Emporia Master Gardners.
