The curtain has closed on No Coast Film Festival, at least for now.
Organizers have posted on social media they are closing the festival after five years, saying, “life is moving fast for all of us and we can no longer devote the necessary time and energy that it takes to put on a quality festival.” Organizers also say the festival is being discontinued, but they also left open the possibility of restarting the event at a later time.
No Coast has enjoyed 40-70 film submissions per year over its five-year run, bringing short film producers from around the world to Emporia for the festival, which included awards and workshops among other activities.
Filmmakers who have submitted entries for award consideration will have their fees refunded.
KVOE News has reached out to No Coast administrators for comment.
