A Topeka man suffered apparently minor injuries and was hospitalized in Emporia following a wreck on the Kansas Turnpike southwest of town.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 59-year-old David Parnell was driving a box truck northbound when he had a tire blowout near mile marker 113, or a mile east of the Flint Hills cattle pens exit and 14 miles southwest of Emporia. The truck went off the highway and hit a culvert.
Parnell was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

One person was hospitalized following an injury accident southwest of Emporia Tuesday afternoon.
The accident was reported just after 1:45 pm at Kansas Turnpike mile marker 113 northbound, roughly a mile east of the Flint Hills cattle pens and 14 miles southwest of Emporia. According to the Emporia Fire Department, the accident involved a single vehicle that was found in the ditch.
One individual was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health with undisclosed injuries. Additional details including the name of the individual and a crash narrative are pending from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
