Trial is now set for mid-August in the case of an Emporia man accused of rape in Sedgwick County.
John Robert Burton is charged with single counts of rape and aggravated indecent liberties, both involving an alleged victim under the age of 14, after an alleged incident last year. Trial is tentatively set to begin Aug. 19 in Wichita after it was originally set for April.
Burton’s bond was modified slightly at Burton’s last hearing, allowing him a chance to travel to the Midwest Transplant Network’s Legacy Walk in Kansas City, Missouri, earlier this month.
