The public hearing process ends Monday for Kansas Gas Service’s request to increase rates.
The in-person meeting is at 6 pm Monday at Wichita’s Hughes Metropolitan Complex Lowe Auditorium. Residents can watch the broadcast on the Kansas Corporation Commission’s YouTube channel. Residents wanting to both watch and comment must go to the KCC website by noon Sunday to watch the meeting via Zoom.
Kansas Gas has filed an application for a better than $58 million increase in base rates. If approved, this would increase the monthly residential bill by over 10 percent or by $6.71 for customers who use 73,000 cubic feet or less per year. Customers using more than 73,000 cubic feet of natural gas per year would see their monthly bills climb 8.25 percent or by almost $9.50.
The KCC plans to issue its decision by Oct. 25.
