Nonprofits in Emporia and Greenwood County are getting tax credits through the Kansas Department of Commerce:
The Commerce Department announced its latest round of Community Service Progarm tax credits Monday, benefiting these area agencies for fiscal 2025 beginning July 1:
*Hetlinger Developmental Services: $139,000
*Greenwood Preservation Society: $125,000
This announcement follows a fiscal 2024 agreement for over $115,000 in tax credits for the Olpe Community Committee’s Fitness Park, as well as tax credit agreements in fiscal 2023 for CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness, Camp Wood YMCA and the Greenwood Preservation Society. Hetlinger had nearly $80,000 in tax credits awarded for fiscal 2022.
The program offers 70-percent tax credits for contributions in rural communities, or populations of less than 15,000 people, as well as 50-percent tax credits for larger communities. Credits are directly deducted from a donor’s state tax mandate.
