Emporia may well have a second Italian brick-and-mortar restaurant soon.
Palermo’s is taking over the former Shanghai Chinese Restaurant location at 2002 West Sixth — with plans to open by month’s end, if not sooner. Palermo’s will feature pizza, sandwiches and traditional Italian cuisine.
Restaurant owners had space in Laramie, Wyoming, a city of about 31,000 people, but closed that restaurant before moving to Emporia.
Shanghai operated for decades before closing down near the start of the year.
Palermo’s will open five blocks west of the Gustoso’s restaurant.
