Election season is heating up, and Lyon County’s major political parties have public events coming in the next few days.
Lyon County Republicans will have their annual picnic at 5 pm Sunday at the Jones Park Shelter House. Attorney General Kris Kobach will attend, along with a currently-unspecified list of local, state and national candidates. The event will also feature a silent auction and a giving challenge board.
Lyon County Democrats have a Candidate Meet and Mingle event involving candidates for local, legislative and Congressional seats at Mulready’s Pub from 6:30-8 pm Monday. Residents can ask questions about issues and candidate platforms during the event.
All Democratic candidates appearing on the Lyon County ballot have been invited. Voter registration assistance will be available, along with information about election dates and polling places. The event is free and open to the public.
