Flooding has stayed west of the KVOE listening area following heavy rainfall Wednesday, and it appears that may well be where it stays.
Totals were high in Marion County, where anywhere from 3 to over 4 inches of rain fell. The Cottonwood River at Florence has not reached flood stage of 22 feet but is near 20 feet and still rising. There have also been increases further downstream at Cottonwood Falls, Plymouth and Emporia, but the river at those gauges is nowhere close to flood stage.
Meanwhile, the Neosho rose and then fell after up to an inch of rain in Emporia and close to 3 inches of rain near Council Grove. The Neosho at Parkerville and Americus was well shy of flood stage when it began falling. The river has barely started to climb at Neosho Rapids. There is no current report for the Neosho at Emporia.
Rain is possible Saturday night and again for Tuesday and Wednesday.
KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media will have updates. If you have rain totals, message the Bluestem Farm and Ranch text line at 620-342-5863.
