Following the annual Lyon County Republican Picnic Sunday, Lyon County’s Democratic Party held an informal get-together of their own Monday evening.
The party welcomed several Democratic candidates to Mulready’s Pub Monday evening for a meet-and-mingle event. Lyon County Democrats Spokesperson Kelly Atherton says events such as Monday’s are terrific for voters as it provides them with a one-on-one opportunity to speak with candidates.
She says that one-on-one interaction is important for many reasons, namely because it can remind voters that candidates are people just like them.
Candidates in attendance for Monday’s event included:
*Lyon County Commission District Two candidate Ron McCoy
*Lyon County Commission District Three candidate Bill Neinstedt
*17th District Senate candidate Lillian Lingenfelter
*US Second District Kansas Congressional hopefuls Matthew Kleinmann and Nancy Boyda
*Kansas House 60th District Representative candidate Mic McGuire
*State Board of Education District 6 candidate Beryl New
The primary election is coming up on August 6. The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5.
