Funeral services are pending for a one-time Emporia resident killed in Wichita this past weekend.
Jaz Brooks, 28, was killed during a hit-and-run crash at Central and McLean early Sunday. Brooks was pronounced dead after being found trapped inside a car. The driver was treated at the scene.
Wichita Police say a truck collided with the car on the passenger side and fled the scene, but the driver, 18-year-old Peyton Allart, was arrested and booked on suspicion of failing to stop at an accident resulting in death. Formal charges have not posted to the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal.
