The annual — and now year-long — fundraising campaign will kick in soon for the United Way of the Flint Hills, but there are several other ventures keeping the local United Way busy this summer.
On KVOE’s Morning Show this week, Executive Director Daphne Reed Mertens highlighted the Emerging Needs grant program, which offers grants to “organizations presenting innovative, time-sensitive solutions to the community’s health and human services needs.”
In addition, the United for Racial Equity grant program opens its application window Monday. The program offers mini-grants for projects increasing equity and opportunities for traditionally marginalized segments of the community.
The drive will have its official kickoff in August, and drive chair Tagan Trahoon says people can expect more public events and a greater emphasis on engagement across all age groups.
The United Way supports over 20 Community Partner agencies in eight counties: Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, Osage, Wabaunsee and Woodson. For more information, go online to unitedwayoftheflinthills.org, find UW Flint Hills on Facebook or call 620-342-7564.
