The 51st annual Kansas Shrine Bowl is set for Saturday night at Welch Stadium.
Both East and West teams arrived in Emporia on Thursday in preparation for the game. The teams will have their hospital experience today with the Friday Night All-Star Showcase set for 6 p.m. at Welch Stadium. The Shrine Bowl parade is at 10 a.m. in downtown Emporia with the game to kick off at 7:05 p.m. Pregame festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m.
Lyndon’s Kaedin Massey and Tanner Heckel will be playing for the East. Massey said things have gone well at Kansas State and the Shrine Bowl is a good break away.
Heckel said things have gone well at The University of Illinois and said the Shrine Bowl has been a great experience so far.
Three Emporia State signees will play in their future home. Sage Huffman of Blue Valley West and Sam Hull of Humboldt will play for the East while Aydan Spires of Kapaun Mt. Carmel will play for the West.
East coach Weston Moody of Wamego said the game should be a good one to watch with talent across the board.
West coach Jace Pavolvich of McPherson said chemistry has been a key emphasis for his team this week.
