Thunderstorms could bring heavy rain to parts of the KVOE listening area, and one area county has an official alert to that effect.
Originally, Greenwood County was the only county in an alert, but now Lyon, Coffey, Greenwood, Osage and Wabaunsee counties are in a flood watch through Thursday morning. The National Weather Service says “storms capable of efficient rainfall rates” will take place before sunrise.
Area residents still have a marginal severe weather risk for Wednesday, with the main concern being wind. Thursday has a marginal severe weather risk, also for wind.

7:30 am Wednesday: After isolated severe storms Tuesday, low-end severe chances continue through July 4
The KVOE listening area largely dodged severe weather Tuesday, but there are other chances this week.
In fact, there are two potential rounds of severe weather for Wednesday — one by afternoon and another by late night — but currently there is a marginal risk for wind. Locally heavy rainfall is another concern.
National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Flanagan says there is also another potential round of severe weather for the afternoon and evening hours July 4.
Wind gusts and heavy rainfall are the main concerns again Thursday.
The severe weather potential follows a stormy evening that produced one severe weather report for the area, a 63-mph wind gust near Matfield Green. The main issue that developed was power, with around 1,500 electric customers across the area going without power for at least part of the night. Evergy had over 800 outages just in the immediate Council Grove area, with nearly 300 in northwest Lyon County and nearly 200 near Cassoday. All have been resolved. 4 Rivers had almost 190 outages in Lyon and Chase counties after issues at the Americus and Thunderbird substations. As of 4:30 am, that number is now at under 70 total, with outages in Lyon, Osage and Wabaunsee counties.
Flooding was a concern after heavy rain in north Lyon County early Monday and the prospect of isolated to scattered heavy rain totals Tuesday, so a flood watch was issued. That alert has since been canceled with no reported flooding so far.
