Early July is an extremely busy time for the Emporia State University Flute Choir.
Already, the group has partnered with Arby’s on Monday for a fundraiser sending a portion of the restaurant’s proceeds to the choir. A similar fundraiser is coming Monday at Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers.
In addition, there are several performances on the calendar — including one on KVOE’s Morning Show earlier this week.
The goal, according to student Elizabeth Schaefer, is to raise funds for the National Flute Association Convention in San Antonio, Texas, next month.
Choir member Ella Kirk said she’s looking forward to interacting with other flutists from across the country.
The Flute Choir performs as part of the Emporia First Friday Art Walk, with an event at the Lyon County History Center beginning at 6 pm. It also performs at the Emporia Farmers Market beginning at 8:30 am Saturday and on campus inside Plumb Hall starting shortly after noon Monday.
