Court appearances are coming next week for one of the two people arrested after a pair of law enforcement pursuits originating in Emporia earlier this week.
Frederick Beecher Hogue, age 37 of Hollister, Missouri, faces four total counts — two for flee and elude and one each of interfering with law enforcement and driving with a suspended license. Hogue is also charged separately with being a fugitive from Jasper County, Missouri, for allegedly possessing a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
Hogue’s first appearance in both cases will be at 1:15 pm Monday in downtown Emporia.
Hogue was the driver in the two chases that developed before sunrise Tuesday, according to Lyon County deputies. No charges are currently filed against the alleged passenger, 36-year-old Sara Rogers of Granby, Missouri.
The alleged activity that led to the arrests of Hogue and Rogers started with an attempted traffic stop for an allegedly stolen SUV at Sixth and Prairie and led to a short chase in town, with Hogue allegedly traveling over 100 mph at one point. The second chase developed after authorities noticed the same vehicle on Interstate 35 near Emporia’s east city limits. Authorities pursued the vehicle into Franklin County. The chase stopped near Ottawa with both Hogue and Rogers being arrested.
