There won’t be a bingo event centered on expanding Medicaid access in Emporia on Tuesday night.
The Alliance for a Healthy Kansas announced the BINGO Night and Community Conversation on Medicaid Expansion event in Emporia has been postponed until further notice, although there are plans for a new date later.
Residents who have submitted RSVPs are getting notified.
The event is sponsored by ExpandKancare.com, which says expansion will help to reduce health care costs for residents, even if they aren’t on KanCare. The group also says expansion would raise KanCare’s financial eligibility limits and help rural hospitals.
Critics in the Legislature have said expansion is too expensive, the 90-percent federal funding match could dry up at any time and expansion would cover “able-bodied” residents who should have to work to get insurance benefits.
