Two Emporia State football players have been honored in the preseason by the College Football Network. Graduate wideout Tyler Kahmann was named to the Preseason First Team All-American squad while redshirt senior tight end Tommy Zimmerman was named to the site’s Top 20 tight end list. Kahmann was a consensus Second Team All-American last year after setting the ESU single-season records for receptions and receiving touchdowns. Kahmann amassed 101 catches for 1,234 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns. Zimmerman finished 2023 with 38 catches for 488 yards with six touchdowns. The Hornets are coming off their second straight 9-3 season and host Washburn in the Turnpike Tussle to open the year August 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Welch Stadium. Mix 104.9 will once again be the Voice of the Hornets in 2024.
