Two Emporia High bowlers will be among over 3,000 bowlers in the 18U division of the 2024 Junior Gold Championships that begin this weekend in Detroit, Michigan.
Juniors Caydrick Crouch and Nate Green will compete in the United States’ largest youth bowling tournament.
Crouch said he’s improved throughout the summer despite a busy schedule with football and baseball.
Green said he’s excited for the opportunity to bowl in the biggest youth tournament in the United States.
Crouch was a second-team All-State selection this past winter after a sixth-place finish at the Class 5-1A State Bowling Championships. Green won a regional championship and was a state qualifier as a freshman.
Crouch and Green begin practicing on Friday and will begin the competition at 10:30 a.m. Monday with the first round of qualifying. The second round will be at 6 a.m. Tuesday, round three at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and round four at 3 p.m. Thursday. If either qualifies, they’ll continue to bowl next Friday and Saturday.
