COVID-related federal grants are going away, but USD 251 North Lyon County should not miss a beat financially once they disappear.
That’s the perspective of Superintendent Bob Blair after the board’s most recent meeting.
Blair says a lot of the district’s financial health depends on enrollment, and there are promising trends as the district adapts to the new open enrollment landscape. Blair says USD 251 moved its enrollment ahead over a month due to new open enrollment guidelines. The district got “most” of its returning students enrolled and gained nine out-of-district transfers with more incoming transfers possible through the start of classes next month.
On the current-year budget, Blair says the district will maintain its revenue-neutral rate and keep the current levy rate of 11.356 mills. The district has the authority to levy up to 11.706 mills.
