Traffic enhancements in Emporia and Council Grove are getting help from the state government.
Both Emporia and Council Grove are getting $400,000 for work in fiscal 2027, Emporia for so-called geometric improvements and Council Grove for surface preservation.
Funding comes from the City Connecting Link Improvement Program, or CCLIP. Cities with populations above 2,500 have to contribute at least 25 percent of project cost, while cities with populations under 2,500 do not need to provide any funding match.
KDOT is helping over 30 projects with this round of funding. About $26 million is being distributed the next two fiscal years.
