The memory and spirit of longtime Sacred Heart Catholic Church leader Father Pete O’Sullivan was celebrated with the second annual Father Pete O’Sullivan Memorial Golf Tournament Saturday.
Parishioners and community members alike gathered together to take part in the fundraiser supporting Sacred Heart Catholic School. Organizers Cindy and Brad Durbin say golf is a perfect way to remember Father O’Sullivan, noting his love for the sport.
As mentioned, all proceeds from the event will support general operation costs for Sacred Heart School according to Principal Curtis Simons.
20 teams competed in this year’s golf tournament which is nearly even with the previous year’s turnout. Totals from the event are currently pending.
Father O’Sullivan passed away in early October of 2021 after a battle with cancer. In addition to his time in Emporia, he served parishes in Topeka, Paola and several other cities during a nearly 40-year vocation as a priest.
