The Emporia Recreation Commission’s Rec Center Steering Committee has an important meeting Wednesday morning.
Board members will discuss the next procedural steps between the steering committee and its external partners, BG Consultants of Emporia and Kahler Slater of Milwaukee for architectural design and Hutton Corporation of Wichita for construction manager at risk items. The board will also discuss the subcommittees needed to move the process along.
The need for a new or updated rec center has been well publicized in recent years with the Emporia Rec Commission saying the current rec center has less than half the space available to meet the area’s current and future recreation needs.
The meeting starts at 9 am at the Municipal Court Room.
