The Emporia Public Library is transitioning from summer to fall activities, but not before making a splash in the process.
The library has its annual Summer Pool Party at the Jones Aquatic Center from 6:30-8 pm Sunday. On KVOE’s Morning Show this week, Director Pauline Stacchini reminded parents to have their children turn in their reading minutes — and not just for the pool party.
With the Summer Reading Program ending Wednesday, the library also has a cookie decorating event Tuesday — which is full — and a family movie night at the Emporia Granada Theatre on Aug. 1. The library’s Back to School Bash is Aug. 6.
Once school begins in mid-August, Stacchini says work is underway to coordinate with local and area school districts to schedule events during teacher professional development days or parent-teacher conferences — as Stacchini says, to “work with the school calendar and not in competition with it.”
