For the past several years, Grace United Methodist Church has met a major need for school children by offering its Kicks for Kids giveaway.
The need was met again Saturday as the church handed out close to 500 pairs of shoes. Organizer Russ Conrade says he’s glad to see the church and other organizations help to meet the need.
Along with the shoes, Grace United Methodist offered family health kits while supplies lasted and it welcomed other partners to the event. CareArc offered free dental fluoride treatments, while the Emporia Lions Club had free eye screenings. Club member Gary Post says it’s a good setting for the Lions and the screenings.
Radical Life Core Communities also had information about its services.
