Tax collections for the first month of fiscal 2025 were close to overall projections.
Kansas had total collections of $660.3 million, one percent below estimates and three percent below July 2023.
Individual income tax collections were nearly $309 million, 2.8 percent above projections but almost 2 percent below a year ago. Combined retail sales and compensating use tax receipts were over $305 million, 1.4 percent above estimates and 3.2 percent below projections. That category is also almost 4 percent below July 2023 because of the state’s reduced food sales tax rate.
Corporate income taxes were at $34.3 million, missing both the estimate by over 31 percent and last year’s monthly number by over 23 percent.
