A power outage which developed late Friday morning has been resolved.
The outage near Seventh and Merchant affected less than 20 customers including a nearby business and also took a traffic signal at the Seventh and Merchant intersection offline for the early part of the afternoon. According to City of Emporia Communications Manager Christine Torrens, the light is operational and in flashing mode as of 3 pm.
The cause of the outage is currently unclear.

A power outage that’s small in coverage area is affecting traffic in downtown Emporia.
Less than 20 customers are impacted by the outage near Seventh and Merchant, but the outage is affecting nearby businesses. It has also taken the traffic signal offline at Seventh and Merchant, meaning drivers will have to approach that intersection as a four-way stop until further notice.
The cause is unclear and there is currently no word on when power will be restored.
