Adequate, timely moisture has helped with livestock gains in Lyon County this summer.
That wasn’t necessarily the case last summer into this spring, according to Lyon County Extension Ag Agent Brian Rees.
Rees says livestock did well with the combination of high heat and humidity early last week, thanks to morning rain and a consistent breeze. Speaking of rainfall, he says the area could use a runoff event or some “new moisture” in general to avert any risk of blue-green algae in stock ponds.
