It’s a good thing no severe weather is expected the next few days, at least to some degree because four of the National Weather Service Topeka office’s five weather radio transmitters are offline.
The outages were announced early Wednesday morning for the transmitters at Halls Summit, Abilene, Concordia and Topeka. This means weather radio information is down for Lyon and all surrounding counties except for Greenwood.
The Weather Service says there has been a communications or hardware failure. Technicians have been alerted. There is no restoration timetable currently.
Showers and non-severe thunderstorms are possible from before sunrise to late morning Thursday and again off-and-on into the middle of next week.
